Hull fought back a little second half to make Wigan sweat but they set up this victory nicely during the first half. The result allowed Wigan to close the gap on those above them in the table with Saints losing 24-14 away at Hull KR, Widnes' match at Wakefield being abandoned after just 16 minutes and Warrington and Leeds matches both being postponed at Bradford and Featherstone respectively.
