Summary:

Wigan were hosting their second World Club Challenge match at Central Park but this one wouldn't reward victory like in 1987 against Manly-Warringah. It started badly when an unforced error from Andre Stoop was quickly turned into the opening try for opposite full back Julian O'Neill. Then great combination between Steve Renouf and Mark Hohn got Kerrod Walters away and Brisbane went into half time with a 12-2 lead. Wigan stepped up after half time but a try from Michael Hancock made it 16-2 and although Wigan got back to 16-8 with what was already Shaun Edwards 20th try of the season in the 65th Minute, a second try for Hancock got Brisbane over the finish line.
