Summary:l

Leeds had once again played before Wigan in Sky's Live Friday Night Match and returned top of the table with a 22-16 victory away at Castleford. For Wigan, after two arduous cup ties against St Helens, a slog on a heavy pitch at Wakefield wasn't exactly ideal but they worked hard to go back top themselves. They had to come from behind though with a try from Gary Spencer and four goals from Nigel Wright helping Wakefield into a 12-4 break lead with only two penalties from Frano Botica responding for Wigan. Wright had been superb in the game for Wakefield but had got sin binned second half. It looked like they would survive that period but Martin Offiah scored, just as Wright's ten minutes was up, his 200th career try. That saw Offiah join Ellery Hanley as the only players to score over 200 tries since two divisions were introduced in 1974. That made it 12-10 and seven minutes later an intercept from Gary Connolly was finished by Henry Paul. Botica failed to convert, so Wigan still had work to do at 14-12 ahead and it was only in the closing seconds that Mick Cassidy scored to ensure the victory.
