Summary:l

Leeds had gone back top of the table on the Sunday with an easy 30-0 victory over Warrington at Headingley but Wigan would surely respond with this trip to face relegation battling Doncaster at Tattersfield. Scott Quinnell was given his second appearance in the second row as Wigan slowly built up a first half advantage. Tries from Jason Robinson and Denis Betts on 14 and 29 minutes got Wigan going but a penalty try after Sonny Whakarau was obstructed by Paul Atcheson would have seen a good return for Doncaster at half time. Unfortunately though Robinson pounced for a second score on 39 minutes which left the score 20-6. Referee Ray Tennant had to be replaced by touch judge Bill Blunden at half time and he awarded a try to Paul Atcheson on 50 minutes that proved to the Wigan's final try of the game, despite thirty minutes still remaining. Tony Zelei's 56th Minute try for Doncaster proved to be consolation.
