Summary:l

Wigan's lead at the top of the table had been cut down to one point after Leeds had beaten Halifax 42-14 at Headingley. So Wigan kicked off in this 7:30pm New Years Day match looking to re-establish their lead. Wigan wasted no time getting going with Martin Offiah and Jason Robinson combining to get Frano Botica racing over in the right corner after just 3 minutes. Ten minutes later Andy Farrell doubled the lead to 12-0 with more damage inflicted down the right. Frano Botica chipped Wigan to 16-0 up with two penalties before Warrington responded before half time with a nice try finished by Paul Cullen. A try from Jason Robinson on 54 Minutes made it 20-4 but it was only the 70 minute that the match was fully sealed. Simon Haughton claimed a soft try for 24-4 and although Jonathan Roper claimed two consolations in the final ten minutes, their was still time at the end for a stunner from Martin Offiah to wrap up a 30-12 win.
