Summary:

Wigan returned to the scene of their cup robbery of a few weeks ago in which they had overturned a 21-2 deficit to win 22-21, but Hull would gain huge revenge here to dent Wigan's title hopes. They kicked off still four points behind league leaders Bradford but this was the first of three games they now had in hand. Hull had built up a 12-0 lead close to half time but just like in the cup tie, Wigan found an injury time try from Jason Robinson to make it 12-4. That score was still in place by the 70th Minute when it looked like Joe Lydon had crossed for a crucial try, only for referee Dave Campbell to declare a forward pass. Hull sighed relief from that and won the game with a late Richard Gay try.
