Summary: |
Both sides had subsequently fined £500 (suspended for 12 months) after a mass brawl in the cup tie between the sides the previous Sunday and Featherstone seemingly did not learn their lesson on this quick return for a league match. They ended up playing out the first half with 11 men after Brendan Tuuta was sin binned and two minutes later Andy Wilson also received a yellow card. Wigan though didn't really push home that advantage and at half time both sides had scored one try each, Gary H. Price for Fev and Sam Panapa for Wigan, but Frano Botica had kicked four goals from four whilst Martin Pearson failed with three attempts. Featherstone did get back to 12-10 quickly after half time following a Terry Manning try but those missed goals earlier proved costly because Wigan would kick on to win comfortably in the final 20 minutes. Botica increased the lead first with a penalty for 14-10 and tries late from Barrie-Jon Mather, Neil Cowie and Martin Offiah completed the win that moved Wigan up to second in the table. |
