Summary:l

This was Wigan's last trip to the "Old" Craven Park, a month before it hosted it's last game, and before the club would move to the "New" Craven Park ahead of the 1989/90 season. Rovers had fallen from grace now battling relegation having won the 1984 and 1985 league titles. They put up a gallant effort against Wigan here but although David Bishop's try made it 19-18 with six minutes to go, Rovers couldn't find any more points. Castleford lost for the second game in a row at the top against Hull who went second in the table.
