Summary:l

Wigan came into this match knowing that their two title rivals, Warrington and St Helens, were playing each other. They set out to get their job done but a muddy, heavy field didn't help their cause. It was 23 minutes before the scoreboard was trouble but once Steve Hampson had crossed, they never looked back. Tries from Ellery Hanley either side of half time were added to by efforts from Joe Lydon and David Stephenson before Hampson's second finished off an easy 26-0 win. Wigan's day got better with news that the big game at Wilderspool had finished in a 17-17 draw, the best possible outcome for Wigan. They now had a five point lead at the top.
