Summary:l

A day earlier Central Park had hosted the third test between Great Britain and Australia in which Joe Lydon, David Stephenson, Henderson Gill and Andy Goodway had all been involved and backed up here a day later. Their was big speculation after that test that Wigan had signed Aussie Captain Wally Lewis for 16 games after the tour until the new season began in Australia for 2,000 a match, but a shoulder injury later meant that the move never materialised. Here at Barrow Wigan won despite a tired looking performance, naturally given test stars backing up.
