For all my disappointment in Tuesday's loss at Salford, it often works out that a poor pre season leads to a good regular season and vice versa. So here's to another loss on Sunday! :)

Seriously though, many fans have said that pre season results don't matter and that's right but I'd like to see a good professional performance from Wigan on Sunday because I need a pick up of optimism ahead of the new season.

Last four seasons have been identical. Poor start to the season, form picks up after the Challenge Cup is over, which leads to an excellent finish but because of the poor start we've left ourselves too much to do and fall with the winning post in sight.

What that is down to I don't know. Either lack of fitness early on in the season or the Challenge Cup run getting in the way of Super League consistency.

Tuesday's collapse at Salford has just got me in the frame of mind again that perhaps the squad are lacking fitness? Because we had gone from so good in the first twenty minutes to not very good at all in the second half. Of course mass substitutes make a difference but honestly after Salford took the lead did anyone else think we ever looked like winning?

I suppose we shall see in the coming season, whether our poor starts in recent years have been down to fitness or down to the Challenge Cup getting in the way of early season form because the Cup doesn't kick off until April this year and isn't a factor.

Perhaps I'm being too harsh, seeing as it was our first run out of the year but Sunday's clash with London will perhaps give us a clearer view of what's ahead.

Wigan will offer debuts to Jerry Seuseu and David Vaealiki after both didn't play last Tuesday. What a come down debut this will be for them. After playing in NRL venues like Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium they will debut in England at Edge Hall Road in Orrell!!! They will wonder why on earth they came here lol.

My only wish is that both come through the game unscathed. In fact all our players not just the new ones. We've already lost Andy Farrell and Luke Davico long term and it isn't even February yet. Another injury to a key player could be disastrous.
