Summary:

A total one way show if ever their was one with Wigan beating near neighbours Leigh very easily at Hilton Park. A 30 yard burst from Ellery Hanley, in which he fended off three Leigh defenders, set the tone and further first half scores came from Joe Lydon and two from Henderson Gill to put Wigan 20-0 up at the break. After the break scores from Lydon and Andy Goodway put Wigan further ahead before New Zealand debutant Dean Bell claimed a score. Joe Lydon added a late drop goal that was barely needed.
