Summary: |
After the false start the previous Saturday, Wigan's new undersoil heating made it's debut to ensure this visit of Swinton went ahead without any frost problems and was one of only two games on this day to go ahead. It was a match in which Wigan gave a debut to South African Ray Mordt on the right wing and Wigan put on a good show despite poor conditions. Swinton would have been happy only conceding one try to David Stephenson in the first half hour but tries in the 33rd and 36th minute for Graeme West and Ellery Hanley had Wigan 18-0 up at half time. Wigan never relented after the break with Nicky Kiss, Mike Ford (twice), Nick Du Toit and Henderson Gill all scoring in a 42-0 win. |
