Summary:l

Rovers were the defending champions and had started the season with a 100% record in all competitions. So this was quite a victory for Wigan who had been inconsistent in their league outings. Wigan took the lead with a John Ferguson try in the 14th Minute. Rovers quickly responded with a try from Clark for 6-6. During the second quarter only penalty goals were scored with three for Wigan and two for Rovers leaving it 12-10 at the break. Rovers would have been confident of kicking on second half but it was Wigan who actually kicked on. They did so with Henderson Gill scoring a hat-trick to complete a great victory.
