The end of season Premiership Trophy was being contested for the first time with the inaugural contest involving the 16 sides that would contest the following years First Division (i.e current seasons promoted sides replaced relegated sides). Wigan just about got over the line in a tight contest with Swinton who earlier in the season had knocked Wigan out of both the Lancashire Cup and Players Trophy. |
