Summary:

Wigan stopped the opposition crossing for a try for the fourth time in a row but on this occasion it wasn't enough to stop Warrington from progressing in the Challenge Cup. It had been a tight game with just a 2-2 score at half time but it exploded in violence with first Colin Clarke being sent off on 51 minutes for a high tackle on Billy Pickup before, on the hour, both Eddie Cunningham and Warrington's Mike Nicholas were dismissed for "an exchange of blows". The extra man for Warrington helped nudged them to victory with two drop goals by Derek Whitehead being the difference in converting the 4-4 score at the time of the second incident into a 10-6 victory.
