Summary:l

Saints built up a lead with David Traynor kicking first a penalty, then a drop goal, then a try before converting for a 9-0 lead. Wigan reduced that to 9-5 before half time with Billy Rhoden's try being converted by John Winstanley. In the second half Percy Jago made it 9-8 but the missed conversion by John Winstanley proved the difference between victory and defeat.
