Summary:l

8,000 had turned out to see high anticipated Welsh signing Billy Boston make an "A" Team debut a month earlier against Barrow, but this would be his first team debut against the same opposition. 18,247 turned out this time, a crowd that surely would have been higher but for a clash with Wigan Athletic who were playing an FA Cup tie against Scarborough in front of 14,000 at Springfield Park. Wigan had to come back from 3 points down at half time but fought their way to a win in the end, Boston amongst the scorers.
