Summary:l

The sides had only met at Central Park in the league two days earlier but it was a Lancashire Cup Final at stake this time. Only penalty goals were scored in the first half for 4-4 at half time. That remained until the 55th Minute when Ken Gee kicked a penalty to put Wigan 6-4 ahead. Ledgard quickly equalised with a penalty for 6-6 but Gee quickly responded with another goal for 8-6. He missed a further penalty before the games only try was scored from Dai Bevan. The failed conversion meant Leigh still had hope at 11-6 but they ran out of time and Wigan progressed to the final.
