Match Preview: St Helens (H) 18.07.08 @ JJB Stadium

Wigan Warriors v St Helens - Super League XIII Round 22..
Friday 18th July 2008. Kick Off 8:00pm at JJB Stadium.

Well if you've read my match preview for the Leeds match you will remember me talking some crap about Wigan and diving boards.....

Well whilst we still refuse to even reach the top board to attempt a dive, St Helens are reaching the top board and diving off time and time again.

So much so they are starting to fill the swimming baths with champagne but are they are peaking far too soon though? For them to keep up this form all the way to October is a big ask, even for them. In terms of winning the Grand Final it might do them good not to reach the cup final next week?

However you can't deny they are in scintillating form but it shouldn't be much of a surprise. I would expect them to hammer the bottom two in the table at home and well even we scored 47 at Harlequins so 54 from Saints was a pretty poor effort!  ;)

For Wigan well they need to mentally be right for this game. Unlike many on our message board I believe we can compete, especially at home, but only if they have the mental belief. We'll need to repeat what we did against Leeds, but maintain it for much longer than 40 minutes.

I agree with Daniel Anderson's comments that throwing Tim Smith into a derby for his debut is a massive gamble. But arguably we have nothing to lose in doing so?
