Match Preview: Warrington (H) 16.05.08 @ JJB Stadium

Wigan Warriors v Warrington Wolves - Super League XIII Round 17..
Friday 16th May 2008. Kick Off 7:30pm at JJB Stadium.

Well I feel this is a do or die match for Wigan. Defeat here and I think our season is over already.

To recover the damage done in the two Saints matches in particular we have got to make sure our home matches count for the remainder of this season.

We are going to have 7 of our last 10 league games at JJB Stadium so we need to set up a good position going into that run. A victory to send us back above Warrington would be a great start.

Paul Cullen's side have had a good record over us in recent times. They've won 6 the last 9 clashes between the sides with Wigan's last victory over the Wire coming in June 2006.

But I'm confident. I think it'll take a hell of an effort from Warrington to back up from their bruising encounter with St Helens last Saturday. Ok we did play two days after them but our match was a walkover. That defeat to Saints must have been physically and mentally draining for them. Another local derby is probably not what they need following that.

I'm disappointed that Noble is going with the tried and failed and not given Sam Tomkins a second chance following his brilliant debut on Monday. He should be a least on the bench for me.

Wigan though simply need to buck up here. They need to show they hurt like we did in the Cardiff massacre with a big win to get us back into the top 6.

Wire have the attack to beat us but do they have the defence? Wigan have shown that they can be tight in defence and if they are on Friday - they'll win!
