Carnegie Challenge Cup Round 4.
April 2008. Kick Off
3:00pm at JJB Stadium.
Not much I can add really to what the scoreline tells you. Wigan,
certainly first half, just kept throwing the ball out wide and the
overlaps appeared quite easily.
Pia had there defensive line spread from halfway to the
touchline, leaving the other half the pitch wide open. Wigan had a
simple task to break through time and time again.
The French did give a spirited second half show but aside from
the one try they did score - they never came close to scoring
The only criticism from a Wigan point of view was that we
knocked on from the opening kick off.
Injury doubts over Darrell Goulding and Mick Higham. Both came
off in the first half, Goulding's looked like a reoccurrence of
his ankle problem suffered at Leeds.
Pia were 30-0 down in the opening quarter of the match and you felt sorry for the French as
Feka came off the bench after 20 minutes to inflict more damage. They
improved second half but were always second best.
