Wigan secured the South West Lancashire League
Trophy with this victory over Runcorn, to add to their Lancashire Cup
Success. The trophy was contested between Leigh, Runcorn, St Helens,
Warrington, Widnes and Wigan with the league results of the matches played
between these sides going to towards the trophy. This was a weird match that
had seen Wigan lead 11-0 but Runcorn got back to 11-10 by half time. During
the second half the score went to 13-13 but Jim Leytham scored to tries to
complete a hat-trick and a 19-13 win.
