Widnes had beaten Wigan at home in February
10-0 and knocked Wigan out of the Lancashire Cup earlier in the season, but Wigan ground them down in this semi final at Central Park. It was
only before half time that the deadlock was broken with a burst from a scrum
by Johnny Thomas saw him combine with Bert Jenkins to send Jim Leytham over
for a 3-0 lead at the break. Widnes then lost their full back to injury and
Wigan pushed on with tries from Charlie Seeling, Walter Cheetham and Joe
Miller put Wigan in the final. |
