Summary:l
A battle between the top two in the table
occurred on a Wednesday Tea Time at Central Park. Wigan began in faster
fashion, building up a quick 8-0 lead with a try each from Lance Todd and
Jim Leytham. Oldham responded with a try from Deane before half time but
they didn't convert so Wigan held a 8-3 lead. Leytham missed a sitter
penalty goal early in the penalty goal and that was looking a costly miss
for a while but Wigan increased their lead with a "lucky try" after Lance
Todd charged down a kick that he returned for a try. Unconverted for 11-3
but that proved to settle the game with Oldham only kicking a penalty in
response.
