Summary:l

Wakefield's victory in this semi final came as "a complete surprise" with Wigan producing a "feeble display". They went ahead 3-0 with a try from Newbold. Metcalfe increased that lead to 5-0 with a drop goal with Wigan's only first half response being a penalty from Jim Leytham for a 5-2 half time deficit. Wigan "never had a look in" after the break and Wakefield pushed on to win easy.
