Summary:l |
This was a tough ask for Wigan who faced Oldham in the
Play Off Semi Finals at their Watersheddings ground, where they hadn't lost
all season. The absences of Jim Sharrock, Jim Leytham and Dick Silcock was
also a blow to Wigan but they did compete well. Oldham scored a "lucky try"
from Benyon to take a 5-0 lead after Ferguson converted. Wigan's only first
half respond was a penalty goal from Johnny Thomas but they levelled the
game with an unconverted try from Joe Miller. But a try from Tyson put
Oldham back ahead 10-5 after Ferguson converted and he later kicked a
penalty goal from the half way line to put Oldham into the final. |
