24,200 turned out on Christmas Day for the
traditional visit of Salford to Central Park. Salford had built a 6-2 lead
with two penalty goals and and a drop goal from Risman being responded to by
a penalty from Jim Sullivan. Then a try from Hudson put Salford 9-2 up at
Half Time. Wigan had started the second half strongly but an interception
try by Hudson on 49 minutes put Salford further ahead with Risman's
conversion making it 14-2 to Salford. Wigan fought back well to 14-10,
despite Harold Edwards being sent off, but a try from Jenkins ensure
