Summary:l

Wigan had the previous Saturday off, due to their supposed league opponent Oldham having been involved in a Challenge Cup Semi Final, and have fallen back down to 8th place in the table ahead of the Easter period. The three games played over the weekend (Good Friday, Easter Saturday & Easter Monday) always proved massive for those sides sweating on play off contention, so every result mattered for Wigan who were trailing behind. So this thrashing of St Helens was very timely indeed. It wasn't all good though. Billy Howarth suffered what proved to be a season ending injury during this match.
