Summary:l
This match had been postponed on January 28th due to a
frozen pitch. 15,000 attended this midweek re-arrangement with Wigan gaining
an excellent victory over second placed Swinton. It had been a tight start
with two early penalty goals from Jim Sullivan being responded to with an
unconverted try from Swinton, which left the score at 4-3. That score was
held with very little happening for a long time but Sullivan sent Hal Jones
over for a try, to which he converted, for a 9-3 score at Half Time. Into
the second half and Dicky Twose scored a converted try for 14-3 and Wigan
controlled the match there after. Gwynne Davies and Twose, again, scored
unconverted tries before a late penalty goal by Sullivan wrapped up an
excellent win.
