Wigan had signed prop Lou Houghton from St Helens on January 10th and he made his debut here. Sadly it was an unmemorable one with a first hurdle Challenge Cup defeat away at Warrington. It was a tight tense affair witnessed by 26,949 and only 13-12 to Warrington up to the last minute. But they gained a further try to nudge them through and send Wigan out.
