Summary:l
Since Wigan had played the previous Saturday, St Helens
had also played on the Monday against Warrington and the day before this
game at Batley. So Wigan, having won every match at Central Park during the
league campaign, must have really fancied their chances of beating a fatigued
Saints side. But amazingly Saints found the legs to earn a massive win for
them which had taken them from 5th on the Saturday Night up to 2nd place.
The loss meant Wigan dropped out of the "Top 4" play off positions.
