After Saturday's 2-2 draw at Knowsley Road, Wigan and St Helens met on a Wednesday tea time for a cup quarter final replay at Central Park. Whilst the original tie had been tight and tense, Wigan dominated this replay. They'd already had tries for Johnny Ring and Tommy Parker disallowed before Parker opened the scoring. He soon added a second to put Wigan into a 6-0 lead at the break. In the 48 minute Roy Kinnear scored for 9-0 before Benny Davidson's try, converted by Jim Sullivan improved the score to 14-0. Saints had injuries for Bob Harrison and George Lewis to contend with as well and towards the end of the game they retired, reducing Saints to 11 men. Wigan pushed on although miraculously, Saints did at least fine a consolation try. 30,000 attended the game.
