Summary:l |
Drama before the kick off at Knowsley Road on this day
with the club having to lock the gates when the crowd had swelled to 27,500,
which was almost 5,000 higher than the record attendance at the ground. Many
supporters were left outside unable to get into the ground. The sides had
exchanged penalty goals during the first half and that proved to be it for
the scoring. But St Helens Lou Houghton sent off during the second half
for "Dissent" and for the last thirty minutes they had to endure constant
Wigan pressure. Alf Frodsham was also struggling with injury, so Saints were
happy to force a replay. |
