Well Wigan had to move on from their cup exit and try to ensure they sealed first place in the table. They had lost four out of ten matches since January 9th and the late season collapse of two seasons prior to this was perhaps in their minds. Salford started this match on fire but didn't get on the score sheet. Before half time, Attie van Heerden and Tommy Parker had scored to give Wigan a 6-0 lead. They pushed on second half to record a good win. Elsewhere 2nd place Warrington were away at 3rd placed Swinton and the latter claiming victory was a good result for Wigan in the table. Warrington had now suffered back to back league defeats, taking pressure off Wigan in First.
