Summary:l |
In the midweek prior to this game, Jim Sullivan, Tommy
Howley, Johnny Ring , Danny Hurcombe and Jack Price had been announced as members of
the Great Britain squad that would tour Australia and New Zealand at the end
of the season. But it was business to do before then and a cup quarter final
awaited away at Hunslet. The home side put up a great fight but tries from
Van Heerden and Tommy Howley, plus one goal from Jim Sullivan had Wigan 8-0
up at half time. That lead was stretched to 13-0 when Howley scored again
early second half but Hunslet never gave up with tries from Guerin and
Mason. Neither was converted though and only a drop goal for Feltham was
added to the end result. |
