A record crowd for Central Park was set for this visit of
Leigh with 35,000 turning out. Leigh took the lead with a try from Boardman but Clarkson
missed a sitter conversion, which left the score at just 3-0. Attie Van
Heerden replied for Wigan but Clarkson then was successful with a penalty
goal that had Leigh 5-3 up at half time. A Jim Sullivan penalty levelled it
up at 5-5 before he then kicked the winning penalty goal very late in the
game. |
