Wigan's success here was "brilliantly gained".
Huddersfield had dominated the opening quarter and their 5-0 lead, from a
Williams try and Gronow goal, could have been greater but for excellent
defence. Wigan eventually found some attack and tries from Danny Hurcome,
Syd Boyd and Johnny Ring had established an unlikely 13-5 lead before half
time. Two drop goals from Jerry Shea extended that lead to 17-5 after the
break before Davidge got a consolation for Huddersfield in the last minute.
