Wigan were "perhaps the best victor of the afternoon"
with this display at Barrow. They withstood a "rigorous early onslaught"
before "retaliating in splendid fashion" to lead 7-0 at half time after
Shaw's try and two Sullivan goals. Barrow suffered with injuries second half
but "this was not sufficient to account for their defeat". Howley and
another Sullivan goal added to Wigan's tally as they went second in the
table behind only dominant league leaders Oldham.
