Summary:

All looked good for Wigan after twenty minutes when first Terry O'Connor then Va'aiga Tuigamala posted tries. But things started to go wrong for Wigan after Martin Offiah was stretchered off in the 22nd Minute. Wigan did add a third try from Martin Hall but this came during a hot Saints spell which saw Danny Arnold cross twice and Keiron Cunningham once. That left Wigan holding a slender 16-14 lead at the break but it was just all Saints after the break. First Bobbie Goulding made it 16-16 with a penalty before tries from Ian Pickavance and Arnold's hat-trick score made it 26-16. Goulding added a drop goal. Wigan though made Saints sweat with tries from Martin Hall and Rob Smyth making it 27-26 but Tommy Martyn coming off the bench proved decisive for Saints. He soon scored himself before Andy Northey's stoppage time try completed a massive 41-26 win.
