Hull had been up near the top of the table for the
majority of the previous season before falling away severely in the last
three months of the campaign. They provided little opposition for Wigan here
on a day when Penrith had beaten Canberra 19-12 to win the "Sydney
Premiership" and set up a World Club Challenge with Wigan at Anfield in ten
days time.
