This trip to Odsal came ten days before the sides would meet at Elland Road in a Challenge Cup Semi Final. Wigan had been producing their usual post Christmas form with 12 victories in a row before this game at Odsal. They came unstuck though with six internationals absent. Two tries from Karl Fairbank helped Bradford to a 10-0 lead half way through the first half but Wigan hit back with a score from Barrie-Jon Mather. But Bradford stayed composed to score a drop goal by David Hobbs for 11-4 and then Tony Marchant's try had them 17-4 up by half time. A 53rd Minute try from Paul Medley made it 23-4 and Wigan's hopes looked forlorn. Although tries from Neil Cowie and Jason Robinson got the score narrower, Wigan were always staring at defeat and this proved to be a wasted opportunity to go four points clear.
