Summary:

With plenty of stars being called up to play in both France v Great Britain and France Academy v Great Britain Academy Tests over the weekend, Wigan took the option to delay this trip to bottom of the table Hull KR by two days. A shock looked on after half an hour when a try from Richard Chamberlain and two goals from Mike Fletcher had Rovers 8-0 up. Wigan though hit back with a burst from Sam Panapa, playing unusually in the second row, set up an Andy Platt try that halved the lead 8-4 before half time. Rovers held their lead for the first ten minutes of the second half but finally folded with tries from Denis Betts, Panapa and Shaun Edwards getting Wigan clear to a 20-8 lead. Though Rovers hit back with a Mike Bibby try for 20-12, Wigan sealed the game with a try from substitute Mick Cassidy. The result took Wigan two points clear at the top of the table.
