Summary:

St Helens had continued to crank the pressure on Wigan by returning six points clear top of the table following a 12-4 victory over Warrington in a Friday Sky televised clash played two days before this game. So Wigan had to now respond in this repeat of the Regal Trophy Final against Bradford. They looked well up for it with a Joe Lydon try on 13 minutes open the scoring. Two tries from Jason Robinson on 20 and 24 minutes continued the form and Shaun Edwards effort soon after made it 24-0 to Wigan. Bradford though halved that lead before half time with tries from Steve McGowan and Dave Watson. Wigan though came out second half to make up for the sloppy end to the first. Tries from Joe Lydon and Sam Panapa made it 34-12 and Roger Simpson's response for Bradford was only consolation in the end.
