Even though the final score looks tight at 15-8, the headline in one newspaper was "Wigan have easy ride" to describe this Regal Trophy Final at Elland Road. The lead was only taken in the 37th Minute though when a kick from Shaun Edwards was messed up by Bradford Full Back Dave Watson and Martin Offiah scooped to send Jason Robinson over. Frano Botica converted for 6-0 but Bradford still had time to draw two points back with a David Hobbs penalty goal. Wigan quickly got another try after half time with Martin Dermott sending Shaun Edwards over. Botica converted for 12-2 and then added a penalty after Steve Hampson had kicked a drop goal. That made it 15-2 with 10 minutes to go and that proved enough despite a late try from Bradford's Steve McGowan.
