Wigan's first home match of the new season was not a memorable one with visitors Hull coming from behind to take the victory. After penalties had been exchanged early, a "try of brilliance" from 18 year old Jason Robinson, who was on his home and full debut, opened the scoring in the 23rd Minute and Joe Lydon converted, then a drop goal from Martin Offiah helped Wigan towards a 9-2 half time lead. Offiah though pulled his hamstring just before half time and didn't return. Hull hit back second half to go 14-9 up after tries from Gary Nolan and Craig O'Donnell but it looked like Wigan had stolen it in the 76th Minute. Steve Hampson scored the try but Lydon couldn't convert to win the match.

Half Time:

Wigan 9 Hull 2

Colin Morris (Huddersfield)
