The season curtain raising Charity Shield was held at Gateshead in 1992 and it was decided that the previous years league runners up would face Wigan. That was Saints and they had a great day, building a 17-0 lead by Half Time and never letting Wigan back in at any stage.

Half Time:l

St Helens 17 Wigan 0
