Shaun Edwards celebrated his new two year contract with a
brace of tries in this Premiership Semi Final against Warrington at Central
Park. Warrington had taken the lead with a Jonathan Davies penalty goal but
Edwards soon claimed his first before Denis Betts added another try.
Warrington hit back with a try from Bruce McGuire for 12-6 but before the
break Botica nailed three penalty goals for an 18-6 interval lead. One of
those penalties had been against Wire full back Lee Penny who got sin binned
and he was still off the field early second half when Wigan added tries from
Jason Robinson and Kris Radlinski. Further yellow cards got shown to Iestyn
Harris and Martin Offiah but Wigan kicked on with tries from second tries
for Robinson and Edwards plus scores for Gary Connolly and Martin Offiah
when he'd eventually returned. Warrington had claimed two scores via
Jonathan Davies and Kelly Shelford but they never had any hope of victory.
