Wigan were not happy with the state of the pitch at Mount
Pleasant and also the fact a football match between Bradford Park Avenue and
Darwen had been scheduled to be played on the day before the visit. Such was
the limited capacity at the venue, the match was beamed back on large
screens at Central Park. Batley's side included 46 year old player-coach
Jeff Grayshon on the bench but he could do little to halt Wigan's easy
victory with a huge 46-0 lead being amassed by half time. A last minute
disallowed try for Gary Connolly saw Batley only just avoid a record defeat.
