This Semi Final was a repeat of the 1994 Regal Trophy Final in which Castleford had embarrassed Wigan 33-2 at Headingley. After Frano Botica had kicked a penalty goal for 2-0, Wigan scored the first try on 17 minutes when Henry Paul broke a tackle and sent Jason Robinson racing near the posts. That was 8-0 and Castleford responded well to find a try from Tony Kemp on 29 minutes that made it 8-6 but crucially they couldn't hold that lead to half time with Martin Offiah scoring in stoppage time for a 14-6 break lead. Seven minutes after the interval a lovely offload got Henry Paul away again and he found Offiah in space. Quality here from Chariots who seeing the touchline about the swallow him up, hacked the ball on not once but twice to touch down. 20-6 after Botica converted and fine minutes later Martin Hall scored to seal the match, even though 25 minutes still remained. Only one further score came and that was Offiah completing his hat-trick by finishing a Gary Connolly break with two minutes to go.
